MEET THE CHEF

Chef Ansgar Werneke

Chef Ansgar Werneke

For Chef Ansgar Werneke, his fondness of the Yuletide has given him the edge in bringing genuine Christmas to the deserts of Dubai.
The thoughts of Christmas immediately brings back childhood memories of him helping out in the kitchen of his family home back in Germany.
“Christmas is special to me. It ignites the same excitement that I used to have in years gone by, and the fun part today is that I can pass on my experience and excitement to my own children – so that they can share the same passion I have for the festive season.”
A self-proclaimed sweet tooth, his love towards the sugary art resonates through various treats served in the hotel throughout December, such as the Christmas stollen and German cookies.
Spending the festive season for over thirteen years in the Middle East, the executive chef brings onto the table an array of dishes inspired by various traditions he learned from countries he has been throughout his career as a chef. He has since fine-tuned these for the palates of Dubai residents and tourists, along with recipes from Movenpick Hotel Ibn Battuta Gate’s specialty restaurants.
“Our lavish brunch has more than 150 dishes, as it is the extended version of all restaurants of the hotel in one area. The entire team pays attention to all dishes, focusing on flavour, presentation and overall quality.”
